Giving red envelopes is a traditional Chinese custom
zài xǔ duō chǎnɡ hé zhōnɡ，rén men dōu huì sònɡ hónɡ bāo biǎo shì zhù fú
在 许 多 场 合 中 ，人 们 都 会 送 红 包 表 示 祝 福
On many occasions, people give red envelopes as a blessing
hónɡ bāo yǒu hěn duō xué wèn
红 包 有 很 多 学 问

hónɡ bāo de jīn é tōnɡ chánɡ shì xiànɡ zhēnɡ jí lì de shù zì
红 包 的 金 额 通 常 是 象 征 吉 利 的 数 字
The amount of money in a red envelope is usually an auspicious number
lì rú：bā huò zhě liù，huò zhě shì ǒu shù jié wěi de shù zì
例 如：八 或 者 六 ，或 者 是 偶 数 结 尾 的 数 字
For example, an eight or six, or a number ending in an even number
chú le chūn jié yǐ wài，hái yǒu hěn duō xǐ qìnɡ chǎnɡ hé
除 了 春 节 以 外 ，还 有 很 多 喜 庆 场 合

rén men huì xì chēnɡ wéi“hónɡ sè zhà dàn”zhǐ yào pò fèi le
人 们 会 戏 称 为 “红 色 炸 弹 ”指 要 破 费 了
People will jokingly call it the "Red bomb" and it will cost money

红 包 与 吉 祥 话:
sònɡ hónɡ bāo shí，rén men huì ɡēn jù bú tónɡ de chǎnɡ hé shuō bú tónɡ de jí xiánɡ huà
送 红 包 时 ，人 们 会 根 据 不 同 的 场 合 说 不 同 的 吉 祥 话
When giving red envelopes, people will say different auspicious words according to different occasions
lì rú，zài chūn jié，wǎnɡ wǎnɡ huì shuō：ɡōnɡ xǐ fā cái，xīn nián kuài lè
例 如，在 春 节 ，往 往 会 说 ：恭 喜 发 财 ，新 年 快 乐
