一鸣惊人 (yī míng jīng rén)

The phrase "一鸣惊人" originates from the historical text "Records of the Grand Historian" by Sima Qian: "Meng Tian said: 'When you talk about '一鸣惊人,' no one in the world can make a sound.'" It metaphorically describes a person or thing that astonishes everyone with its outstanding performance at the first attempt, leaving a profound impression.

This idiom emphasizes the importance of keeping promises, likening spoken words to being as valuable as a thousand pieces of gold金子(jīnzi).
This phrase underscores the significance of keeping one's word, expressing firm commitment and the value of reputation.
