During shopping:

  • When inquiring about the price, you can say:

    "May I ask, how much is this?"
    “请问这个多少钱?”
    “qǐng wèn zhè gè duō shǎo qián ?”
      or
    "What is the price of this item?"
    “这个的价格是多少呀?”
    “zhè gè de jià gé shì duō shǎo ya ?”
  • If unsure about the size of clothes or other items, you can say:

    "I would like to know if this is available in XX size?"
    “我想知道这个有XX码吗?”
    “wǒ xiǎng zhī dào zhè gè yǒu XX mǎ ma ?”
    or
    "Could you please inform me of the standard size of this item?"
    “请问这个的尺码标准吗?”

During dining:

  • When ordering dishes, you can tell the waiter:

    "I would like to order...dish(es)"

  • Making special requests:

    For example, if you do not eat spicy food, you can inform the waiter:

During hotel check-in:

  • When checking in, you can approach the front desk and say:

    "Hello, I have reserved a room under the name of..."
    “你好,我预订了房间,我的姓名是……”
    “nǐ hǎo ,wǒ yù dìng le fáng jiān ,wǒ de xìng míng shì ……”
    And presenting your identification documents.
  • Inquiring about hotel services:

    For instance, if you want to know if the hotel provides breakfast, gym facilities, etc., you can ask:
    "Does the hotel offer breakfast?"
    “请问酒店提供早餐吗?”
    “qǐng wèn jiǔ diàn tí gōng zǎo cān ma ?”
    or
